Lily's Happy Halloween!!

Kevin and I carved these awesome pumpkins! Don't worry we have not quit going to school to take up professional pumpkin carving. We wanted to be good parents and give Lily all the wonderful Halloween experiences. It turned out that as Kevin and I carved outside, Lily ran around pushing a broom and playing in the mud and trying to eat dirt. She was not even interested. She is usually very curious and she likes pumpkins. So we thought that she would like to play in the pumpkin guts but she did not care at all. Oh well maybe next year.

She may not have loved pumpkin carving. But Lily loves candy. She is at such a fun age. Here she is running around the family room. Lily was a flower for Halloween. I didn't realize how cheesy that was when I bought the costume. I went shopping with Lily and when she saw this on the hanger she got really excited and pulled it off and then went running down the isle of the store. That made me decide that this was the costume for her.

Lily usually hates wearing hats. But she loves clothes. When she saw herself in the mirror she smiled so big and laughed. She loves this costume. Lily also loves candy but she is not really to keen on trick-or-treating. In the pic below she is getting some candy from her Great-Aunt Laura (that she sees very often) here and you would think that she is trying to give Lily medicine. Lily is leaning so far back. Laura finally gave up Lily would not even take it from me.

Even though Lily did not like Trick-or-Treating she loves candy. Here she is with a sort of crazy candy high look on her face. She has red skittle drool running down her chin. It is lovely isn't it? Anyway I think that Halloween was all in all a fun experience. (Don't worry Mom we didn't let her have a about three of pieces of candy. )

I hope everyone had a very nice Halloween. Hopefully Lily will sleep well tonight!

Crazy Garden, On campus Interviews, and Climbing Baby

We have been busy busy busy lately. Kevin has been adjusting to going back to school. He has been working very hard and having lots of interviews with law firms for summer internships for next year. He is also very busy trying to keep up with his garden. The garden is over grown and requires a lot of care. We have been at war with the many neighborhood squirrels that have been eating everything that they can get their hands on. They almost ate all of our sunflower seeds.

Lily is getting really adventurous. She just learned how to climb up onto the table. Now we have to make sure all of the chairs are pushed into the table. She also pushes everything that she can to use as a stepping stool to get to where she wants. She had started throwing tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. She is however usually easy to distract but it is a little hilarious to see her throw herself on the ground. ( We are proud of ourselves for not laughing out loud.) She talking more and also becoming more involved with other children.

I have been busy trying to keep up with Lily and trying to keep her from killing herself. That takes a lot of my time. I have also been trying to take her outside more. It is so nice to live by the school and have a play ground so close. I have been also busy with trying to keep up on the laundry for Kevin and helping him in anyway that I can. We also had the opportunity to go to Utah at the end of July and it was a lot of fun.

Happy Birthday Lily

Lily turned 1 on July 13th. She then had a wonderful time destroying the little cake that Kevin and I made for her.

We can't believe she is 1. Wow. She weighed 19lbs 8oz. Her height is 28.5 inches. So she is a little thing but she is running all over the place. Kevin and I really enjoy her.

Here she is with her cake and candle. We made cupcakes for everyone else. We frosted them with pink and yellow frosting and arranged them like flowers.

We had her favorite things to eat for dinner which include: sliced olives, sauteed mushrooms, raw green beans, barbecue chicken, and mac & cheese.
She loved it! I think it was a little weird for everyone else.

Memorial Day

We had a crazy week for Memorial Day. Jon, Julie, Matthew, and Seth came for a visit. Matthew gave Lily a ride in the red jeep. She had a lot of fun. I think that Matthew had fun driving her for a while.

The next day Lily and I flew to Utah for the Burraston Memorial Day Extravaganza. We went down to the farm and had a family barbecue. It was fun to see the cousins and aunts and uncles. I am the youngest grandchild so there were lots of other children to keep Lily entertained. She did so well. I was worried about her being afraid. But she did awesome with my parents. They think that she is the greatest thing since sliced cheese (and my family likes cheese!!)

It is so fun to go down to Goshen and spend time with my family there are so many good memories. My Grandma collects old cars so we
got pictures of Lily with a few of them.
Here we are in the back of a rumble seat in one of the old Ford. Lily really liked driving the old Ford pick-up truck. I the truck was made between 1910-1919...I think. Anyway it was a wonderful trip and then we flew back to have more fun and adventure with the Jon & Julie Isaacson Co.

Things had calmed down and now we are just enjoying being together and growing our garden. Kevin has an internship for the summer that he enjoys and we have some fun things planned. Hope all is well with you and yours.

Surviving Finals and Walking Baby

We have had a very eventful month. May was filled with many wonderful things such as: starting with Kevin's finals, planting the garden, Kevin's birthday and Memorial day.

Kevin's finals were crazy but we made it thought and feel very proud that we made it through the first year of law school. When Kevin started school they sent a pamphlet home that was entitled "How to survive your first year of law school" It stated that if you were not married don't get married and if you were married don't think about having children. We felt like the odds were against us but we made it though and didn't even think about getting divorced which I view as a pretty good sign. :)

Finals were however very intense for the both of us as evidenced by not celebrating Mother's Day. We also totally forgot our 3rd anniversary. Kevin's mom was the only one who remembered but she didn't call us that day. We realized the next day the 13th KW and I were sitting down and I was worried about paying some bills or something and looked at the calendar and realized that we had totally missed the whole special day. I was embarrassed for a few minutes and finally worked up the courage to tell KW who was studying for a test. We laughed about it for a while. At least we both forgot! Luckily Lily remembered her Papa's birthday and gave him a tie.

Kev, Mary & "The Lil"

I can't believe that the spring is here. Kevin has started one of his finals and we are so close to making it though the first year of Law School. Kevin is learning so much. He actually really enjoys the things that he is learning. I think that this is a very good thing!!!! He works so hard but still finds time to play with Lily and do a little yard work. I think that he wishes that he could do more. Kevin is the best a giving "The Lil" (Lily) her bath and she has so much fun with him during bath time. We are still not sure what type of internship Kevin will be doing for the summer or if he will be taking some classes.

Mary has a new calling as the Mia Maid teacher in the ward. We are both still ward missionaries. But we spend most of church trying to keep "The Lil" from being too much of a disruption. Lily loves choir music. She loves Music and the Spoken Word. She will sit or stand with her back perfectly straight up and wave her arms to the music. She has this look on her face of pure joy and amazement. She will do the same thing at church when the congregation is very involved in singing the hymn. She will stop whatever she is doing. and Just pay perfect attention. It is adorable. She has also started crawling. I don't think that she realizes that she can get wherever she wants by crawling because she will crawl somewhere one time and then the next she will just lay on the floor and cry. She has also found out how to pull herself up in her crib. She is getting so big.

As a family were are doing great. We have started having Family Home Evenings with "The Lil" and I don't think she understands anything but I know that she will someday. This parent thing is a lot of work. Thank so much Mom and Dad for all you have done to teach us how to be good and faithful people. Please remember to keep us in your prayers.

This is the face Lily makes when Kevin tickles her.....a little "scrunch face"

A Busy Start

Christmas was awesome. We had a wonderful time with my family in Utah. There was a lot of snow that Kevin had a lot of fun playing in. I think he probably shoveled the driveway 8 times one of the days we were in Salt Lake. Two weeks in the snow is just a perfect amount. On Christmas Eve it is a Burraston family tradition to get new PJ pants. We then watched Claymation Christmas (an Isaacson family tradition). Then it was back to sunny California. We came home early because Jon and Julie planned a wonderful surprise visit so that the family could be all home together. We took family pictures and it was awesome. It was wonderful to have a whole month with Kevin home. He discovered some new talents such as feeding Lily, and putting her down for a nap. He is such a wonderful daddy. He did very well his first semester of law school. I think that he is surprised how much he actually enjoys it. On January 8th, 2009. She weighed 15 lbs, 13 oz. I can't believe how much she has grown. I think that Lily's favorite part of Christmas was eating the wrapping paper.
